Digital Conversation

Installation 2008, Inkjet Print 27x37cm with lighting apparatus, dimensions variable.

As the light on this piece changes colour, the emphasis of the lettering changes the inferred meaning from 'off' to 'on'. An extremely simple statement, it suggests themes around dependence on the digital domain and the unreal and sometime superficial nature of such communications and pastimes- an extreme example being people who live in 'Second Life'. This work is a reminder of what it boils down to and what in fact it is that we obsess about: streams of ones and noughts, collections of offs and ons.
