Anonymous Box

Installation, 2004, dimensions variable, hand made electronics, televisions, film projectors, chimes, cable

This large installation centres on the anonymous control box of the title. The work constructs patterns of rhythms and activity in the various appliances. In this case the hand scratched film loops form a score, which dictate the pattern of changes although not the rhythms themselves.

On entering the space, the viewer is confronted with a disorienting barrage of sound and light. The experience at first is chaotic and poltergeist-esque but with time and as eyes get used to the light, the combination of white noise from the TVs and the soft chimes changes it to a more meditative time altering experience.
